Kiosk Lake Campground is located at the northern tip of Algonquin Park. There’s a 30km paved road along Highway 630 leading into the campground. The latitude and longitude coordinates of Kiosk Lake Campground are 46.08944°, -78.877863°.

Kiosk Lake Campground is one of the smallest campgrounds in Algonquin Park, with only 26 campsites. It doesn’t have any electrical sites, dog-free sites, or radio-free sites. There’s no comfort station, laundry services, or showers either. Motor boat access is allowed, and there’s also a nice beachfront to enjoy. It’s a very basic campground that appeals to campers that are looking for more quiet and seclusion with their camping experience. Being located so far away from the other campgrounds, and with only a handful of campsites, it’s about as remote as Algonquin Park car-camping can get.

Kiosk Lake Campground is open from late April until late October.

My favourite campsites at Kiosk Lake Campground are Site #23, Site #24, Site #25, and Site #26. They are all large campsites with decent seclusion. But what makes them so special is that they are waterfront campsites offering a beautiful view out onto Kiosk Lake. There are other waterfront campsites at the campground as well, but unlike some of the other waterfront campsites, Site #23 to Site #26 are far away from the campground office, the beach, and the canoe launch area. 

You can’t go wrong with any campsite at Kiosk Lake Campground. They are all quite spacious and offer relatively decent seclusion. The only campsites that I personally would not want to camp at would be the ones near the campground office, like Site #1, due to the high amount of traffic and people nearby.

Kiosk Lake Campground only has non-electrical campsites, so all of the campsites throughout the campground have the same per-night fee, with a few exceptions. The per-night fee for most campsites at Kiosk Lake Campground is $42.38, with a few sites having a fee of $46.04. This fee is inclusive of tax. One vehicle permit is included in the price of the campsite fee. For additional vehicles, the price is $14.13, per vehicle, per night.

In addition, there is a non-refundable reservation fee when making your booking. If you book over the phone, the fee is $13.00, and if you book online, the fee is $11.00. If you need to modify or cancel your booking, there is a minimum fee of $10.50 when modifying/cancelling over the phone, or $8.50 when modifying/cancelling online. To book a campsite at Kiosk Lake Campground, you’ll need to visit the Ontario Parks website. Making a reservation is very straightforward. First, start by visiting reservations.ontarioparks.com. You should automatically be on the “Campsite” tab. In the “Park” dropdown, select “Algonquin – Kiosk”.  Follow the steps from there, and in just a few minutes you can make your reservation for Kiosk Lake Campground.

You can also book a campsite at Kiosk Lake Campground over the phone by calling Ontario Parks directly at 1-888-ONT-PARK (1-888-668-7275).

Remember, reservations can be made starting at 7:00 AM from up to five months in advance of your arrival date! For example, if you’d like to book a campsite at Kiosk Lake Campground for an arrival date of September 1st, you can make your reservation as of 7:00 AM on April 1st.

Kiosk Lake Campground is very secluded relative to the other campgrounds in Algonquin Park. This means that, unfortunately, there isn’t much to do in the area. If you decide to camp at Kiosk Lake Campground, you won’t be near Algonquin’s hiking trails or other attractions like the Visitor Centre.

If you’re in the mood to go for a walk, there’s an old railway bed that leads into Algonquin’s backcountry that can be followed for quite a distance. You may even cross paths with someone doing a portage.

You can also rent a canoe from Algonquin North Wilderness Outfitters. They’re located at the start of Highway 630 (before the 30km drive into the campground). You can either strap the canoe onto your vehicle, or have them deliver it directly to the campground for you. Kiosk Lake is quite large and you can spend several hours each day paddling around and exploring the lake. Just be cautious of the wind, the water can get pretty choppy!

Some people may even complement their car-camping experience by reserving a backcountry permit for one or two nights to stay at one of Kiosk Lake’s interior “paddle-in” campsites. Kiosk Lake Campground is also home to a few “Jump-Off” campsites that are meant to be reserved by people that are venturing into the backcountry the following day. These are reserved separately in the Backcountry section of the reservation system.
