After 20+ years of canoe tripping in Algonquin Park and 5+ years of operating this website, I’ve finally decided to monetize Algonquin & Beyond with a membership-based model. Before you get out the pitchforks, let me explain! Here’s a blog post that describes in detail why I’m making this change: “Why I Started Charging for Algonquin & Beyond Memberships”
A membership is not required to browse Algonquin & Beyond. Free content includes my Trip Reports, informational articles, and more. However, certain content is restricted for people with memberships. Membership content includes Backcountry Campsite Reports, Frontcountry Campsite Reports, and Campground Video Tours, with more coming soon.
Members get full access to Algonquin & Beyond without any restricted content. For a detailed explanation of why I’m charging for membership access, please read this blog post “Why I Started Charging for Algonquin & Beyond Memberships”
There are two membership options: Annual Memberships, and Lifetime Memberships. The Annual Membership lasts for 1 full year from the time you sign up. Lifetime Memberships do not expire (they will last for as long as this website and membership services are being provided).
Annual Memberships will automatically renew after one year from the time you sign up. If you need to change your payment information before the next billing cycle, you can do so on your membership account page. If you cancel your Annual Membership, you will retain member benefits until the end of your 1-year period. Lifetime Memberships are not subject to renewal.
No credit card information is stored on Algonquin & Beyond. It may look like the payment is being collected by this website, but it’s actually being securely captured by a third party payment processor (eg. Stripe) and adheres to the payment processor’s extremely strict security standards. Credit card information is never stored directly on the Algonquin & Beyond website.
Trial periods are not being offered at this time. If there are features you’d like to see introduced in the future (trial periods, or others) feel free to send me an email and let me know.
Memberships can be easily cancelled on your membership account page. If you are having difficulty cancelling your membership, please email me at info@algonquinbeyond.com and I will manually cancel your membership for you. Please note that memberships are only considered cancelled once you receive email confirmation of the cancellation. After you cancel your membership, you will retain membership benefits until the end of your subscription period.
Due to the seasonal nature of camping and canoe tripping in Ontario, membership refunds are not being offered at this time. If you purchase a membership and decide that you don’t want to renew your membership the following year, please make sure you cancel your membership before the next billing cycle.
If you have any further questions, suggestions, feedback, or if you’d just like to say hi 👋, feel free to fill out my Contact Form. If it takes me a while to respond, don’t worry, it’s probably because I’m somewhere in the bush without cell service. I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Members get access to 500+ Backcountry Campsite Reports, 850+ Frontcountry Campsite Reports, Campground Video Tours, and more coming soon. Plus, no popups 👀
