Rock Lake – Campsite #3

I say it often, but sometimes a site just gives you good feelings, and this was one of those sites. Even though I was only there for 10 minutes, I really liked this site. There’s a slice of rock at the front of the campsite that makes it easy to land your canoe. The site itself is relatively level though a bit wavy. There are a handful of different tent spots; none are perfect but there are a ton of options to choose from. The fire pit is weird, there’s lots of flat seating but it faces away from the fire pit. It’s almost like they’re two separate entities that just happen to be nearby each other. But any concerns you have about the fire pit will be gone the second you see the beautiful panoramic views onto Rock Lake. The site is on a peninsula, so the views out onto the lake are breathtaking in all directions. This campsite is a winner in my books. It has the perfect mix of exposed shoreline and sheltered interior. It’s not as flashy as some other campsites on Rock Lake, but sometimes you just want an easily accessible, functional campsite. And this is one of them.
