McManus Lake – Campsite #5

This Campsite Report is a Guest Submission. The description and images are not my own so I cannot personally verify its accuracy. If you notice any errors, please let me know. If you want to submit your own Campsite Report, visit the submission page.

This campsite on McManus Lake is the furthest one from the access point, but the closest to the portage (and swift). You can hear the rushing water from the swift if you listen closely. It’s facing west/southwest and is the third (last) campsite on the right-hand (northeastern) side of the lake if you’re coming in from Access Point #21. It’s fairly shaded and one of the larger sites that I visited. It could comfortably accommodate four or five tents. This campsite has a slightly weedy entrance with a sandy bottom and a steep climb up to the site. Most of the trees on this site are pine/coniferous. The thunder box was a short walk east (to your right when facing into the woods) and the bear cable hang was a short walk to your left. There is a lot of seating around the fire and a makeshift (albeit rickety) kitchen.
