Maple Lake – Campsite #6
This is clearly a ‘buffer’ or ‘emergency’ campsite. It’s located right beside the portage to Ratrap, so presumably the only people that would take this campsite would be a group arriving very late from that direction, or a group that looked at all of the other campsites first and saw that they were all taken. This campsite has a poor canoe landing with waters that wouldn’t be great for swimming either. A short but steep incline takes you to the main site, which is incredibly small and cramped. There’s a very small and clean fire pit that looks like it hasn’t been used in ages, with one flat bench placed slightly too far away. Off to the side are two tent spots, both overgrown and looking like they’ve never been used. That’s about it. Oh, and a trail to the thunder box. Ok now that’s about it. If you’re camping on Maple Lake, go for one of the islands or one of the other sites instead.
