Lake Opeongo, South Arm – Campsite #43
Do you like beaches? Do you like hills? Do you like hilly beaches? If you’ve answered yes to all three questions, then I’ve got just the campsite for you! But seriously, the landing of this campsite is a large, flat beach that quickly turns into a massive steep climb up to the top of the point. I figured once I got to the top I’d see the campsite, but nope, I then needed to follow a very short trail until I found the main site area. On the plus side, this means the main campsite area has a bit of protection from the elements, compared to if it were located right near the canoe landing. The main area has a fire pit with crappy seating surrounding it, a kitchen table made between two trees, and lots of flat tent ground. I would camp here for the unique appeal of the beach, but asides from that it’s a pretty average site. Note that I would not recommend this campsite if you’re traveling with kids or pets, as the steep climb could be dangerous.
