Algonquin & Beyond

Lake Opeongo, South Arm – Campsite #40

This campsite didn’t look like much from the water but it ended up being surprisingly large compared to many others in the south arm of Lake Opeongo. The beach landing is flat and easily accessible, making it an ideal spot to land your canoe especially if you’re like me and enjoy going for multiple paddles throughout the day. Inside the campsite is quite large and exposed. It would be nice in sunny weather but may not offer the protection you would like if there was heavy wind or rain. There are however a few suitable tent spots to choose from to keep you cozy, along with a few kitchen tables made from lashed together branches. The tables are in really odd places though, far away from the fire pit. This campsite wouldn’t be my first choice on Lake Opeongo, but it would be far from my last choice.
