Head Lake – Campsite #3

I had mixed feelings when I visited this site. From the water your first impressions are that it’s crazy steep and hilly (which is true). The canoe landing isn’t great and of course there’s a big climb to bring your gear to the main site area. The fire pit and seating area are on a bit of a slope, but there are magically 3 really flat patches of ground for tents… I was fully expecting the site to have just 1 sloped tent spot, but that wasn’t the case at all. A nice little bonus is that you can see the waterfall in the distance, and if it’s flowing as strong as it was when I visited, you can actually hear it very clearly as well. I’m not a fan of steep hilly sites in general so this definitely wouldn’t be my first choice on Head Lake, but it definitely has everything you need to make a comfortable camp for the evening.
