Big Trout Lake – Campsite #22

Like most sites on Big Trout, this campsite has a good fire pit with plenty of flat benches surrounding it. What I like most about this site though, is the open spacious feeling throughout. I always enjoy sites that have lots of ‘breathing room’ and aren’t surrounded by dense forest. The canoe landing is in a small beach cove on the north side of the campsite, with about a 1-meter step up from the beach to the main site. There’s an outhouse thunder box a bit further back, and surrounding the fire pit are plenty of options to pitch your tent. The site offers nice sunset and sunrise views as well. The only consideration is that it’s a small island with another campsite on the other end, and if the other site is occupied you’ll be able to hear the other party rather easily due to the openness of the island.
