Campsite #6 on Big Porcupine Lake is like the little brother compared to Campsite #5. It also has a rocky shoreline, but it’s not as large as the rocky shoreline at Campsite #5. The shoreline resembles an oversized staircase with different levels of rock, rather than a smooth surface like the shoreline of Campsite #5. But on the plus side, this campsite does offer more shelter with the fire pit tucked away inside, underneath some tree coverage. The fire pit has a great seating setup too. There was only one tent spot that I noticed, but it was a pretty perfect spot. I’m sure you could pitch additional tents if needed, but other than the one obviously large area, the ground isn’t very flat throughout the campsite. This campsite isn’t as picturesque as its neighbouring Campsite #5, and it’s a little bit smaller in size, but it does offer better shelter and protection from the elements. If the lake was empty and I had the choice between Campsite #5 and Campsite #6, my decision would depend totally on the weather. It’s worth noting that Campsite #5 is in extremely close proximity, and the portage into Bonnechere Lake is directly beside Campsite #5 as well, so this campsite is definitely not a private option.
