Entering Campsite #2 on Mangotasi Lake first requires navigating through some overgrown lily pads in the water out front. Once you weave your way through, or paddle over the tall grass instead, the actual canoe landing isn’t bad. It’s rocky, but there’s enough room to comfortably unload your gear. There’s a decent climb up to the main campsite from the canoe landing. The main campsite is open and spacious, but still with sufficient tree coverage for protection from the elements, and to pitch a tarp if needed. The fire pit is nicely built but the seating isn’t that great, and it’s too far away. The fire pit was full of cobwebs when I visited; I’m guessing the site doesn’t get used too often. There’s an opening to the east with water access and a flat sitting rock to ponder the meaning of life during the sunny early hours of the day. There are two or three sizeable tend pads with flat ground, one being directly beside the fire pit (less than 5 ft away) and the others not too far away. There may have been more tent spots inland, but I didn’t venture to find out. I wouldn’t call this campsite a destination site, but you could definitely do worse.
