White Birch Lake – Campsite #4
I arrived on White Birch Lake wanting Campsite #3 because I had read it was the nicest on the lake. However, when I paddled by it was already occupied, so I took this campsite instead. After walking through this campsite, I’m pretty sure this is the one I had read about, because in my opinion it’s definitely the nicest site on the lake. There are two fronts to the campsite. What I mean is, the orange campsite marker is on the big rocky shoreline, which is where I pulled up my canoe initially. But the main campsite area is about 20m inland, and there’s a more proper looking canoe landing right beside the fire pit area. So basically both options could be considered the ‘front’ of the campsite in a sense. Anyways, the rocky shoreline is quite large and very flat, making it a great lounging area. Most of the rocks slope into deep water, and off to the side there was a small shallow beach area… two perfectly viable options for swimming depending which you prefer. The fire pit was well built and there are two long flat benches beside the fire pit. A long man-made kitchen table is just a few feet away. There are three good tent spots that can accommodate tents of varying sizes. What I loved about this campsite is that it had a beautiful 270 degree scenic panoramic view from the large rocky shoreline, and then a more sheltered interior just a short walk away. It reminded me very much of Campsite #3 On North Grace Lake with its overall layout, right down to where I pitched my tent relative to the fire pit. If this site is available when you arrive on White Birch Lake, I’d definitely recommend taking it.
