Waterclear Lake – Campsite #2
From the water I knew I wasn’t going to like this campsite. When I pulled up to shore I saw moss in the water along the shoreline and a dead fish floating a couple inches in front of the shoreline. Swimming? Nope, I don’t think so. I went on shore to find a small, completely exposed campsite. The fire pit and seating were actually pretty good, but that didn’t really matter because I was just focused on how much I disliked everything else about the site. There was one small tent spot beside the fire pit, and one better option further back inland, but it required walking through an overgrown area to get to. That trail to the second tent spot also lead to the thunder box. The one thing I did really like about this campsite though was the view out onto the lake. I didn’t find Waterclear Lake to be the prettiest lake in general, but at least this campsite offered a nice view, relatively speaking. Otherwise, this is a good stop-for-lunch campsite, but it’s not somewhere I’d want to stay for the night.
