Tom Thomson Lake – Campsite #3

Three things immediately stuck out to me while visiting this campsite. The first is that there’s a very big climb from the canoe landing to the main fire pit. Some people don’t mind a climb since it usually means you get beautiful elevated views onto the lake, but for me personally, I like getting in and out of my canoe rather frequently, so easy water access is important. The second thing I noticed is that I couldn’t find a single good tent spot. I’m sure there was at least one. There has to be, right? People do camp on this campsite and unless I’m mistaken, most people bring tents! But yeah I obviously didn’t look hard enough because I didn’t find anywhere that I’d be happy pitching my tent. The third thing is pretty obvious before you even get to the campsite, and that’s the fact that it’s a stones throw away from Campsite #4. You just need to look on a map to see this. You would want to be occupying both campsites or at least know the group on Campsite #4 because I can guarantee you’ll hear ever sneeze, cough, and hiccup from the other group. On the plus side, at least the fire pit and seating are pretty good and the view out onto Tom Thomson is beautiful.
