Tanamakoon Lake – Campsite #5
In my opinion this is the nicest campsite on Tanamakoon Lake. Not only is it relatively private compared to some of the other campsites on the lake, but it also has the most sheltered interior with ideal options to further shelter the fire pit area with tarps. The fire pit also has great seating surrounding it. The campsite overall is the most open and spacious feeling of all of the campsites on Tanamakoon Lake, but still sheltered enough to protect from wind and rain. There’s also a ton of viable tent spot options to choose from. There’s one right behind the fire pit, a couple more nearby, and then one massive patch of flat ground a bit further that could easily accommodate two or three tents beside each other. The campsite has a little bit of everything, but the only downside is that across the lake are cabins from Camp Tanamakoon. But if you don’t mind the cabins always being in view, then this is a really great campsite. The main canoe landing for this site was washed out with the high water levels when I visited, but I was easily able to pull up to a sloped rock just a few metres away. Realistically, that sloped rock would probably be my preferred landing even if water levels were lower since it seems to provide easier access to the campsite.
