Tanamakoon Lake – Campsite #3
This campsite is on the east shore of Tanamakoon Lake, meaning it faces west for the sunset. Yay! But that’s one of the only things I got excited about when looking at the campsite. It does have a very accessible canoe landing but that accessibility is a tradeoff because then there’s a small climb to the main area of the campsite. The site is small, sheltered, and relatively enclosed with lots of tree coverage. It’s also very rooty with mixed elevations, so it’s not the type of site you roam around care free. I do like that the fire pit is nicely built with good seating surrounding it, and is also located right by the water. So bonus points for that at least. The thunder box is down one trail to the site of the campsite, and on the other side of the site is another short trail leading to a few tent spot options. You could pitch a tent beside the fire pit if needed, but the grounds aren’t that great and the better tent spots are just off to the side of the campsite. Overall the canoe landing and fire pit were the only things I really liked about the campsite; it wouldn’t be my first choice if I was camping on Tanamakoon Lake but in bad weather it has all the essentials to set up camp and get a good night sleep.
