Sunday Lake – Campsite #3
When approaching this campsite from the water I didn’t have high hopes for it. But once I arrived on shore, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a relatively small campsite, with ironically tons of seating surrounding the epic fire pit that would be able to comfortably accommodate a large group. The log seating creates a rectangular shape around the boulder backed fire pit, giving the fire pit area its own dedicated space within the campsite. On the perimeter is a handful of tent spot options to choose from, and at the front of the site is a small piece of exposed sloping rock, and one very large boulder. The small piece of exposed sloping rock would offer a good place to swim, sunbathe, and stargaze for one or two people, but it’s not large enough to accommodate a large group hanging out. Despite having tons of seating at the fire pit, I think this campsite would be perfect for a smaller group if the island campsite was already taken. This site offers plenty of shelter on the interior, with a bit of exposure at the shoreline to enjoy good weather and to watch the sunset. The island campsite is easily my first choice on Sunday Lake, but this would be an acceptable fallback option.
