Rock Lake – Campsite #1
This is the campsite on Rock Lake that’s directly beside the Booth’s Rock Trail hike and the remains of J.R. Booth’s estate. I love the hike, but I’m not a big fan of the campsite. The canoe landing isn’t great and the fire pit and seating are just ok. The site is sheltered with two very large areas for tents, so it does have all the essentials if those things are the most important to you. What it doesn’t have is a rocky shoreline, a place to sit out in the sun, watch the stars, etc. Basically, it’s not a very scenic campsite. I’d imagine the only reason people would camp at this site is because it’s right next to the old estate and it has really easy access to hike Booth’s Rock Trail. You’d be sacrificing a lot of privacy though since people doing the hike and checking out the remains of the estate could accidentally stumble right into your campsite. It’s not a campsite I’d personally want to camp at, but I could understand why other people might want to stay there.
