Rock Lake, Campground B – Campsite #76
Camping at this site at Rock Lake, Campground B was a last minute call. I had just camped at Campsite #86 a few days prior, and it wasn’t a very great site. It was very small and lodged in the middle of several other campsites with absolutely no privacy from the other sites. When I saw this Campsite #76 available, I remembered how much better the waterfront sites looked as I kept passing by them. So I snagged it. It must have been a last minute cancellation from someone else, because it’s a pretty great campsite. It’s decently large with enough space to comfortably park your car and set up your tents. The fire pit is right by the waters edge and offers a beautiful view out onto Rock Lake. Especially during fall colours, the view onto the opposing western shoreline is to die for. There are indeed other campsites nearby, but it’s still a bit more spaced out and private compared to the middle section of Campground B. A nice perk is that the campsite is located right before the fork in the road, meaning you don’t have to circle the whole campground when driving to get in/out of the campground (right after the fork it becomes one-way traffic). Plus, the campsite offers direct water access. It’s not the easiest entrance from the campsite into the water, relative to the other adjacent sites, but it’s easy enough. The water access has a small beach as well; this will likely depend on water levels, but when I visited in October it was large enough to set up my chair and relax in the sun.
