Ragged Lake – Campsite #1
Who doesn’t love a good beach site, right? Plus, it has a chunk of rock at the shoreline as well. It’s not often that you get both beach and rock at a campsite. This campsite is relatively far away from the other 20+ campsites on Ragged Lake, but it’s right on the main canoe route to/from Smoke Lake. So you’ll have lots of traffic passing by during the day, but in the evening and overnight it will be quieter than other areas of the lake. Behind the beach and rock shoreline is a small climb to the main campsite area, which has some pretty average seating around a pretty average fire pit. There was surprisingly not too many options for tent spots… although I don’t really know why I expected a buffet of options or anything. There was definitely flat ground for a tent or two, just not 5 or 6 options to choose from like some other sites have. Overall this is one of those campsites you’d look at when arriving on the lake and think to yourself “wow this is a pretty decent site… but can we really stay here when we haven’t seen what else the lake has to offer?” It’s a nice site, but is it nice enough to stop you from checking things out further south down the lake? Well, that’s up to you to decide.
