Pen Lake – Campsite #8

This Campsite Report is a Guest Submission. The description and images are not my own so I cannot personally verify its accuracy. If you notice any errors, please let me know. If you want to submit your own Campsite Report, visit the submission page.

The main site is on the northeast side of an elevated sandy berm with red pine as the main cover. There are large open flat locations to fit multiple tents on the north side, and a small location to place a tent on the top of the hill. On the southwest side of the hill is a sandy point/beach with shallow access into the lake, which would be great for swimming. Unfortunately the site is well used, and we did carry out a fair amount of garbage. There have also been fire pits put on the beach, and another random one on the way back to the thunder box, which is quite visible from the site itself. There is a lowland swampy area which in summer would be a haven from mosquitos but we were there before they came out.
