Pen Lake – Campsite #14
This is the southernmost campsite on Pen Lake, right beside the portage into Clydegale Lake. I was surprisingly impressed with this campsite. The interior of the site is simple but offers everything that you need; a fire pit with seating, several large flat tent spots nearby, and shelter from the elements. But the shoreline is what sold me on the site; it’s lined with long open rock faces that offer plenty of room to enjoy the sun, stargaze in the evening, and swim during nice weather. You can tell from the pictures that I visited the site during low water levels, which makes the shoreline even more exposed and elevated. There’s also a very convenient and accessible beach landing. Due to the location of the site, it’s probably one of the most secluded and private on the lake. You’ll notice people passing by into and from Clydegale Lake, but that’s pretty much it.
