Little Rock Lake – Campsite #1
This is the only campsite on Little Rock Lake. I can see how some people may like the site, but personally it’s not a site I would enjoy. Despite the name Little Rock Lake, the campsite is situated on top of a large sloping rock. It has an average fire pit with some above average seating surrounding it, and two level tent pads. Behind the fire pit is one small tent spot that looks like it could comfortably fit a two person tent, and in front of the fire pit is a larger tent spot carved out of the surrounding sloped ground that looks like it could comfortably fit a three to four person tent. Everywhere else throughout the campsite is sloped. The site does however have a very pretty view onto Little Rock Lake (facing west for sunset!), while offering complete privacy since it is the sole campsite on the lake. It has a remote interior vibe to it despite being only a few kilometres from the highway. There are trails scattered behind the site, presumably one leading to the thunder box, but I didn’t go and explore. The front of the campsite has a big boulder to sit on and enjoy the sunset, with a sloped rocky shoreline to lounge, sunbathe, and stargaze, while also making a decent canoe landing… though it would be highly dependant on the current water levels. This site has a lot going for it, but I tend to like flat, easily accessible sites, so this wouldn’t be my first choice. But I can definitely see the appeal for someone who would want to have the lake to themselves.
