Lake Opeongo, South Arm – Campsite #33
The moment that I pulled up to this campsite I knew it wasn’t going to be a nice site. It has a small beach landing (ok, that part is good) with an abrupt stop and small vertical incline to the main campsite. The main campsite is average at best. There’s one flat bench for seating in front of a basic fire pit, with another secondary even more basic fire pit off to the side. The secondary fire pit looks unofficial, so please do not use it. There are two good tent spots; the first is exposed in the main campsite, and the other is tucked away among the trees offering a bit more shelter. That’s about it for this site. There’s really nothing special about it. If you immediately get windbound after launching from Opeongo, sure you’ll survive at this site, but otherwise I would keep paddling for something better.
