Lake Opeongo, South Arm – Campsite #29a

I had to look through my pictures a few times while writing this review because the campsite was so average and forgettable. It must be a relatively new campsite since it isn’t marked on the most recent version of Jeff’s Map (from 2015), but I’m not sure why the park would feel the need to create this site when Lake Opeongo already has over 100 campsites and this campsite is just so… average. A tiny beach landing is followed by a sharp vertical rooty climb to the main site. The fire pit does have seating surround it, which oddly is a rarity in the south arm of Lake Opeongo. And then there’s one single big patch of flat ground to pitch your tent(s) (plural if you’re lucky). The only thing I really enjoyed about this campsite was that I saw an otter in the water by the shoreline. Unfortunately, you probably won’t see that same otter so this campsite gets a pass from me.
