Kirkwood Lake – Campsite #1

The eastern campsite on Kirkwood Lake appears right as you turn the corner from the narrow section leading in from the Pardee Lake portage. The campsite sits on top of large rocks, with a view to the east of the overgrown marshy waters, and a view to the west overlooking the body of Kirkwood Lake. The site itself has a well built fire pit with plenty of surrounding seating, however it’s in a rather exposed section of the site which isn’t ideal for bad weather. The rest of the site is more enclosed and sheltered, with a handful of large, flat tent spots to choose from, and a wooden shelf ‘kitchen table’ lodged between two tree trunks. This is for sure the better choice over the island campsite on Kirkwood Lake, in my opinion.
