Kenneth Lake – Campsite #1
This is my type of campsite! (With a few little caveats). The campsite is perched atop a very large chunk of rock, which usually means “great, a crappy canoe landing a sloped climb up”… but there’s a more levelled chunk of flat rock at the bottom, making landing and unloading much easier than you would think. You do still have to bring your gear up to the top, but 2 minutes of cursing and you’ll move on. Up top from the main site you have a cozy fire pit area that offers a beautiful view looking east onto Kenneth Lake. Plus, it levels off at the top to provide 3 or 4 large patches of flat ground for your tents. My favourite part about the campsite might be those two tiny pieces of rock at the bottom of the site (labelled “Rock chair” in the pictures below) that are perfect to sit on and enjoy the views on a nice sunny day. The big rock does have a pretty significant slope, which presumably will get very slippery when wet, so I would caution camping here if you have little children since it could be a dangerous situation. But otherwise I really like this site. I just wish it faced west to get a sunset view, then I would really like this site.
