Ah, yes. The waterfall site. It’s the main attraction on Head Lake and this is a very popular site on the lake for that reason. The site itself is pretty great too; it’s up on a bit of a slope and has a couple large patches of really flat ground to give you a comfortable sleep. The canoe landing wasn’t the most accessible when I visited, but I’ve camped on this site before when water levels were lower and the canoe landing was much, much better. The main thing, like I mentioned, are the waterfalls directly across from the site. I’ve been on Head Lake when the waterfall was basically bone dry, but when I visited in September 2021 they were flowing very strong. To be honest, they were TOO loud. The sound of the waterfall is indeed very soothing and relaxing, and it’s nice to fall asleep to… but there’s no on and off switch. They were very loud, and it’s constant noise 100% of the time. When water levels are that high, I personally wouldn’t want to camp at this site, but when things are a bit quieter it’s definitely a beautiful campsite. Just beware that people passing through will want to come check out the waterfalls, meaning you’ll likely have visitors hanging around nearby the campsite.
