Erables Lake – Campsite #11
I have no idea why this campsite even exists to be honest. I understand having campsites at the end of portages, but you usually see those in the middle of river travel, or along a stretch of creek with several portages in a row. You don’t often see it when the lake it leads to is a large lake with several other campsites. Saying that, I would never choose to camp at this site. It is directly in the path from the portage to the water, meaning people starting or ending the portage would be walking literally right in front of you. It does have a fire pit, seating, one questionable tent spot, and a thunder box basically in view from the main area, but none of that is argument enough to stay at this site. If you injure yourself on the portage or if you’re about to pass out from dehydration, sure set up camp for the night. Otherwise I would just keep going and choose any other site on Erables Lake.
