Canisbay Lake – Campsite #9
This campsite on Canisbay Lake would be a fun site to camp at. The front of the campsite is a rocky peninsula, with an enclosed sandbox beach that would likely be exposed in lower water levels (it was flooded when I visited, see image “Flooded Beach” below). It seems like the ideal spot for a family with young kids. Inside the campsite is a relatively large and open site with a few tent spots to choose from. The seating beside the fire pit had butt grooves carved out from the log, which was the first time I had ever seen that in Algonquin. The main appeal of this campsite though is the front shoreline and its views onto the opposing western shoreline, especially during the fall season with the rolling maples on the western shoreline. This site is pretty close to the launch point and campgrounds though, so it won’t be the quietest or most private site on the lake. But again, for a family with young children this site would be perfect.
