Bonnechere Lake – Campsite #6

This campsite is a ‘love it or hate it’ type of site. On one hand, it gives you access to two different lakes, Bonnechere Lake and Cradle Lake, with a place to launch/land your canoe on either side. On the other hand, that’s a portage running straight through the site, so you might have some inconsiderate passerby’s who aren’t courteous enough to take the long route and go around. On the plus side, you’re treated to one of the most epic fire pits in Algonquin… but on the downside, the campsite is surrounded by marshy waters on the Bonnechere side of the lake, and presumably because of this, the site was extremely buggy when I was there. I can keep going, but basically every good thing about this site has a tradeoff associated with it… it’s the type of site that comes down to personal preference whether you’d enjoy camping here or not.
