Big Porcupine Lake – Campsite #9

When I visited this site the lake was fully booked and this was one of the few sites that people didn’t choose to camp on. Honestly, I’m not sure why. The fire pit has plenty of seating around it, with a tent spot directly behind it. There’s a handful of additional tent spots sheltered among the trees inland as well. The forest behind the site has a nice open feeling to it, and there’s open rock by the shoreline to enjoy the afternoon sun. The main downside is the canoe landing. It’s small, with nowhere to unload your gear or stash the canoe, and then there’s a steep climb to the main site area. Since I like to go for paddles all the time, this isn’t really ideal for me, but everything else about the site I would be completely happy about.
